Trekking Information

  • Yamunotri Trek: 5-6 km one way, 4-5 hours, moderate difficulty.
  • Kedarnath Trek: 14 km one way, 6-8 hours, moderate to difficult.
  • Ponies, palanquins, and dolly services available at additional cost.
  • Start treks early morning to avoid afternoon weather changes.
  • Carry water, energy bars, dry fruits, and basic medications.
  • Hire licensed guides for better experience and safety.

Connectivity

  • Haridwar, Rishikesh, Dehradun have excellent 4G coverage.
  • Barkot, Uttarkashi, Guptkashi have decent mobile network (BSNL/Airtel).
  • Kedarnath and Yamunotri have very limited/no network.
  • Badrinath has BSNL connectivity.
  • Inform family and friends about limited connectivity in advance.
  • Offline maps are highly recommended.

Food & Water

  • Uttarakhand cuisine is simple and sattvic, especially near temples.
  • Must-try: Aloo ke Gutke, Phaanu, Kafuli, Chainsoo, Bal Mithai, Singhauri.
  • Stick to bottled or filtered water throughout the yatra.
  • Vegetarian-only food in pilgrimage areas – no alcohol/non-veg near temples.
  • Eat at recommended or hygienic restaurants and hotel dining areas.
