Leh Sightseeing – Magnetic Hill, Sangam & Sham Valley

Travel Information

High Altitude & Acclimatization

Leh is at an altitude of 11,562 feet (3,524 m) above sea level.
Altitude sickness is common – consult your doctor before traveling.
Day 1 is strictly for rest and acclimatization – no sightseeing.
Avoid alcohol and smoking on the first day.
Stay hydrated – drink plenty of water.
Carry Diamox (altitude sickness medication) after consulting your doctor.
If you experience severe headache, nausea, or breathlessness, inform your guide immediately.

Best Time to Visit

June to September – Peak season, pleasant weather, all roads open.
May and October – Shoulder season, fewer crowds, budget-friendly.
December to February – Extreme cold (-20°C to -30°C), Chadar Trek season.
March to April – Cold but beautiful, some passes still closed.
July-August – Green Ladakh, blooming flowers, Nubra and Pangong at their best.

Climate & Clothing

Day temperature: 20°C to 30°C in summer, 0°C to 10°C in winter.
Night temperature: 5°C to 10°C in summer, -15°C to -30°C in winter.
Summer: Pack lightweight woolens, thermals, fleece jacket, windcheater.
Winter: Heavy woolens, multiple layers, down jacket, thermal inners, monkey cap, gloves.
Sturdy waterproof trekking shoes are essential.
Sunscreen, sunglasses, and lip balm are mandatory – UV rays are strong at high altitude.

Permits

Indian citizens require Inner Line Permits (ILP) for Nubra, Pangong, and Hanley.
Travel Junky facilitates all Inner Line permits as part of the package.
Carry original government ID (Aadhar, Voter ID, Passport) and 2 passport-size photos.
Foreign nationals require Protected Area Permit (PAP) and must travel in groups of 2+.

BSNL and Airtel work in Leh town (4G).
Jio has limited connectivity in Leh.
Nubra Valley, Pangong, and Hanley have very poor or no network.
Wi-Fi is available in select hotels in Leh (paid).

Booking within 30 days of departure: 100% payment required at the time of booking.

45+ days before departure: 25% cancellation fee.
30–44 days before departure: 50% cancellation fee.

Transportation

Vehicle type (SUV, Tempo Traveller) depends on the number of passengers.
Vehicle is point-to-point basis, not at disposal.
Driver's decision on route, stoppage, and timing will be final.
Unscheduled travel or extra stops are not permitted.
AC may not operate in hilly terrains due to gradient.

Code of Conduct
